Battling Decision Fatigue While Wedding Planning: Finding Peace in the Process

Jason and I are planning our wedding for August 29, 2025, and let me tell you—the struggle with decision fatigue while wedding planning is real. From colors and catering to seating charts and ceremony scripts, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.

We’re excited about the future—about blending our lives and starting this next chapter together in Topeka, KS—but even beautiful blessings come with pressure. I’ve found myself second-guessing small choices and mentally drained from weighing every option. It’s not because I’m not grateful. It’s because there’s just so much coming at me at once.

I’ve had to remind myself daily that this season isn’t just about pulling off a picture-perfect event—it’s about building a marriage rooted in faith, grace, and God’s guidance.

“God’s peace doesn’t require all the answers—just your trust in Him to guide each step.”

Scriptures I Turn to When I Feel Decision Fatigue While Wedding Planning

When my mind feels scattered and I start getting overwhelmed by every detail, these scriptures bring me back to center:

  • Proverbs 3:5-6 (CSB)“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight.”
  • Philippians 4:6-7 (CSB)“Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
  • Isaiah 26:3 (CSB)“You will keep the mind that is dependent on you in perfect peace, for it is trusting in you.”
  • James 1:5 (CSB)“Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God—who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly—and it will be given to him.”
  • Psalm 32:8 (CSB)“I will instruct you and show you the way to go; with my eye on you, I will give counsel.”
  • Matthew 6:33-34 (CSB)“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you. Therefore don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

These verses help me release the pressure to have everything figured out. They remind me that God is in every detail—big or small.

How Jason and I Pray Through Decision Fatigue While Wedding Planning

One of the most grounding parts of this journey has been praying with Jason. When I feel overwhelmed, he gently reminds me to pause and pray. This is the prayer we return to when the fatigue starts creeping in:

Our Prayer for Clarity and Peace

Dear Lord,
Thank You for the gift of this love story. As we prepare for our wedding day and all the details in between, help us to stay rooted in You. When decision fatigue tries to steal our peace, calm our minds. Help us to let go of the pressure and rest in Your presence. May we honor You in every choice and walk in unity as we prepare for marriage. In Jesus’ name, amen.

What’s Helping Me Cope with Decision Fatigue While Wedding Planning

Here are a few things I’m doing to stay grounded:

  • Setting limits on decisions. I try not to make more than 2–3 major decisions in one day.
  • Taking digital breaks. Pinterest and Instagram are great for inspo, but sometimes I just need a break from the scroll.
  • Checking in with Jason. He’s such a calm and steady presence. We make better decisions when we make them together.
  • Prioritizing what matters. Not everything needs to be perfect. I’m focusing on what aligns with our values and what we’ll actually remember years from now.
  • Returning to our “why.” We’re not just planning a wedding. We’re preparing for a marriage—a covenant. That reminder shifts everything.

If you’re experiencing decision fatigue while wedding planning, please know you’re not alone. I’m walking through it too. Let’s give ourselves permission to pause, pray, and prioritize peace. God’s not asking us to be perfect planners—He’s just asking us to trust Him every step of the way.
