Valentine’s Day Recap

Valentine’s Day is always special, but this year was extra meaningful for us—it was our first and only Valentine’s Day as an engaged couple! As we count down the months until our wedding, every moment together feels even more precious. With the stress of wedding planning and preparing for Amberly’s big move to Topeka, carving out time to celebrate love was exactly what we needed.

“Love isn’t just about the big milestones—it’s about cherishing every moment along the journey.”

A Reunion in Kansas City

Amberly flew in from Chicago to meet Jason in Kansas City, a city that has become a special meeting point for us during our long-distance relationship. We chose to celebrate in Country Club Plaza, a vibrant and romantic spot filled with glowing lights and cobblestone streets. Our dinner reservation was at Jack Stack’s Barbecue, (right next door to the Cheesecake Factory) a nod to our first date—a full-circle moment that made the night even more nostalgic and romantic.

Exchanging Gifts from the Heart

As we sat at our cozy table, eagerly awaiting our meal, we exchanged gifts that symbolized our love and commitment. I surprised Amberly with a stunning heart-shaped amethyst and Diamond Necklace — a classic piece that sparkled under the restaurant’s dim lights. The deep purple stone, reminiscent of royalty and faith, felt like the perfect representation of our journey together. In return, Amberly gifted me a cozy green hooded fleece robe that reminded me of one my father used to wear around the house when I was a boy and a Cuban link chain, adding a stylish touch to my collection. The weight of the chain symbolized the strength of our bond and the journey we are building together.

Love in the Midst of Change

While this Valentine’s Day was full of love and joy, it was also a reflection of the season we’re in—planning a wedding, making big life changes, and preparing for Amberly’s move to Topeka. Transitioning to a new city is no small feat, but knowing that we’re stepping into this next chapter together brings so much comfort and excitement.

A Love Rooted in Faith

Throughout our relationship, faith has been our foundation. From our first date to our engagement, we’ve continuously leaned on God for guidance and strength. For other couples seeking a faith-centered relationship, finding the right partner can be a journey, but resources like Christian Cafe make it easier to connect with like-minded believers who share the same values.

A Night to Remember

Our Valentine’s Day ended with a quiet walk through the Plaza, soaking in the crisp February air and reflecting on how far we’ve come. With every step, we were reminded that love isn’t just about grand gestures—it’s about the everyday moments, the shared dreams, and the commitment to building a life together. This Valentine’s Day was a beautiful glimpse into the love we will continue to celebrate for years to come.
